In CMC’s earliest days, care didn’t happen in clinics—it happened wherever it was needed. Volunteers filled their own cars with supplies and drove to fields and levees to care for farmworkers and their families.

With support from the San Joaquin Medical Society, a mobile trailer clinic was later secured and brought each day to the alley behind a Mexican restaurant, now the site of CMC Tracy Central. The restaurant’s owner generously allowed the trailer to plug into his electrical outlet, making it possible to provide care right where it was needed.

We are proud of these beginnings. CMC was founded to expand access to care for farmworker communities, and that commitment remains central to our mission today.

This March 31, we celebrate Farmworkers Day and honor the people whose labor sustains our food system. We appreciate and respect the farmworkers and families we continue to serve.
